Acanthonotozomoides Oatesi and Glais

The flying iceberg city of Glais, and an arctic ocean elemental spirit in the form of a real Earth amphipod. This is probably the first time this species has ever been shown in a fantasy setting. Doesn't that alone make it a worthwhile subject, let alone how beautiful it is?

This tiny (1/3") antarctic creature was discovered by Keppel Harcourt Barnard  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keppel_H… in 1930, but when I found it online last year, the above link had the only image of the species on the internet. (I use "arctic" above in the general sense; anyway I was referring to a creature in a fantasy world.) In March, another image of a quite different individual (perhaps a different gender or age?) was posted to this marine biologist's blog.
